The Sandra Jones house is an orphanage set up by Youth for Christ in January 2008. This house is for abandoned babies & features a ‘window of love’. The window of love is a first for Zimbabwe & is based on a similar project in South Africa. There is a secure slot put in a wall at the front of the house where parents can come and leave their babies knowing that they will be taken in and looked after. We pray that this idea really takes off as the alternative outcome for these children are horrendous, when parents are so desperate and convinced that they can not look after these children, the lengths they go to to be rid of these ‘burdens’ just blows your mind.
By the first week of February 2008 the home already had 3 children, and the word of the new house was getting around, as Youth For Christ were getting contacted by organisations to say that they have children being dropped off and can the new home take them.
The house itself is a three bedroom one bathroom house, so not big enough for the long term but certainly large enough to facilitate the needs of these children, until alternative accommodation is sorted. Youth for Christ felt that it was important to get the house started as the need for this project was so huge and could not really wait until a bigger house was found.
The home has 3 ‘mothers’ and day volunteers who look after these children, but they will always need more volunteers, as these ‘mothers’ will need days off and time to recoup. Also the social interaction and different faces for the children is very important part of their normal development.
The aim of the house is to provide a loving close to ‘normal’ home as possible for these babies. Youth for Christ do their best to locate families willing to foster these children, but as you can imagine the financial burden of another family member is just too hard for most families.
If you are interested in sponsoring a baby or child from the Sandra Jones house please email us and we email you when a new member is added to our family and then the choice is yours as to whether or not you feel this is the child for you to support.
If you want to know more about how you can help to provide for these children, just email us and we will get back to you with the answers to your questions.

Hallo Andrew, Gabi, and Jodi,
I hope you remember me. I am a Kenyan currently residing in Brisbane as i study and we met at Windsor Road Baptist Church one of the sundays you had come visiting. It was a humbling experience to see you and most importantly see what God is doing in your lives and through you to the people of Zim. I must say that this week I have thought about Gabi like two days in a row and told God to make her your baby and that her papers will be complete soon. Jodi, I am mother of a toddler like Gabi and i could see how much you love that little gal. You have a heart of Gold and may God bless you sooo sooo much for taking in that little girl with your husband and giving her all the love she needs. I pray that God will give you a wonderful time together as husband and wife and having read your stories, it is the Lord who has put you together with a divine purpose. Continue supporting each other and we will continue praying for you. All the best as you go back to Zim and minister to the people there. May God trully bless you. Please kiss Gabi for me.
